TMT Bars
TMT steel bars are produced using Tempcore technology, which gives the bar a strong outer martensitic steel layer with a softer inner core, making the bars both strong and bendable. While producing a TMT steel rod, the bar goes through a staged cooling period, and an inner core of ductile ferrite-pearlite is the result. This gives it its characteristic flexibility, so it can be formed for any development. These bars are first hot rolled from high-grade mild steel, with at least three parallel straight ribs on them.
Cold Wound Deformed Bars
Cold bent bars are easily identified in the field. As the projections were rolled straight onto the bars in hot rolling, they form a helix around the bars in cold twisting. Cold winding introduces residual stresses in the steel.
Welded Wire Fabric
These are called fabrics and consist of welded mesh produced from medium tensile steel drawn from mild steel bars. These wires are available in various widths in rolls, and are often used in partitions and fencing, and sometimes in reinforced concrete slab construction.
